Read what people
have to say about the TODD wood burning cook stove!
(From an end
consumer)
In 1999 I purchased one
of the Todd Wood Cook Stoves. I never dreamed what a neat and useful purchase it
was until cooler weather came. Not only was it a nice conversation piece, but we
used it every day to heat the designated smoking area in our home. This was a
big savings in electricity. Everyone had told me that food tasted better cooked
on a wood stove. I had not believed it, but the cooking we did on ours made a
believer out of me. Baked sweet potatoes that would melt in your mouth, corn
bread you couldn't quit eating until the last crumb was gone, soups and potatoes
not to mention the country ham and biscuits. I am looking forward to cooler
weather again so we can enjoy the warmth and delicious meals on the Todd Wood
Stove.

Hi Mike,
Well, we finally got our new Todd installed and working. I LOVE IT.
The contractor pretty much took the initiative and did what needed to be done to buy the stovepipe,
and with his previous experience installing wood stoves, I just let him handle it.
The inspector was fascinated and impressed and we passed with flying colors (he commended me on my fortitude).
We slow burned for 2 days basically and then revved her up for real. I haven't used the oven yet but, for stovetop cooking,
there's nothing that can beat the taste and ease of use.
I was joyous when "800-got-junk" hauled away my old piece of junk ceramic top electric stove and I was finally able
to use my Todd. The difference is amazing. People might sneer when I say the Todd is easier to use than an electric stove but it is,
as long as you're not a lazy person. You have to think about what you're doing and you have to plan. Personally, I find it fun.
I can cook something in minutes on the Todd while it took forever on the electric. In 5 years I was never able to get the
temperature settings adjusted: never able to get it low enough so that liquids didn't boil over, or high without food burning.
On the Todd, I put it on the appropriate 'burner' and it can cook all day without burning or boiling over. On high heat, it's
done in no time and tastes incredible. In some cases, I've gone from a cooking time of more than an hour to a completed hot meal
in 15-30 minutes. I cannot believe I own the only wood cookstove in Reno and maybe in the county. Those people don't know what they're missing.
I am pleased, too, about how well it heats that side of the house, and the overall warmth it provides. You cannot achieve this with a
furnace. Since I work at home, I've noticed that by late morning most of the house is incredibly comfortable and stays that way as long as the fire
is kept up. I haven't used the fireplace since we fired up the Todd since the Todd provides more heat!
The firebox, and I did research on this before buying, is large enough to hold decent sized pieces of wood. I'd say that out of the cord
we bought, half will fit into the firebox without having to be chopped up. Now, that's amazing.
Mike, I also want to thank you for all your help during the purchase. I am grateful for being able to get the Todd in a very timely manner.
I appreciate that you made a special point to keep me apprised on its availability and I didn't have to wait until more were manufactured.
For now, most people I speak with just think I'm plain weird. I know the time will come, though, when they'll realize I'm just ahead of my time,
and they will be asking about getting their own Todd. With utility rates skyrocketing outrageously, the Todd serves to cook and heat and will pay for
itself in a few years. I expect to save approximately $100.00 per month, perhaps more, on heating this big old house. If I can send people your way, I
certainly will. Words just can't express how much I love my Todd and what a great experience it's been dealing with you.
Take care and best wishes for a great 2006.
Sincerely,
Inez Miles

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that we finally got the stove in just
before Thanksgiving. I just love it. The bread is wonderful...every loaf
is better than the last. I am learning to control the oven temperature. In
fact, I am learning a whole new way to cook. It is restful and I feel
blessed each weekend that it is cool enough to fire the stove. I know the
time is coming when I will have to switch to the gas stove, so I savor each
day I can use it. I just want to thank you for all the support and say once
more "I love it!"

Just wanted to let you know we
received the stove (in a very short amount of time) and it is just beautiful. We
have not set it up for operation yet and it will be this winter before we use
it, but I will let you know how it works. Thanks again. You have great service.

(From a manufacturer
representative)
June 1st 1983...my
introduction to the wood burning cookstove and the hearth industry. Armed with
all that a man can learn on a 4 hour plane ride with the president of the
company I was changing careers. After 12 years in the photo industry I am going
to be a manufacturer's representative for a company that makes wood burning
cookstoves. What...I have never even lit a match to a wood stove!
June 21st, 1983...the largest dealer in the state has
his annual chili cookoff and tent sale. All the reps are gong to be there,
hopefully many customers and 24 people who are bringing their best recipe for
chili. The reps. are going to be the judges. My job is to fire up the twin wood
burning cookstoves in the parking lot and keep them going all day for the
cookoff contestants.
6:30am, I'm reading the instruction book to try and
figure out how this thing works.
9:00am The fire is lit (amazing what happens when you read the instructions).
5:00pm I'm exhausted but the day was a great success.
I learned two things that day I will never forget.
1) Don't ever do a chili cookoff/tent sale for a large dealer when you don't
understand the product completely!
2) The wood burning cookstove has a charm and function that nothing can replace.
In the 17 years since then I have sold many cook stoves
and many other hearth products. I have worked at countless home & garden
shows, log home shows, county and state fairs as well as industry trade shows.
Nothing can match the charm and function of a wood burning cookstove. The
toughest part of working a consumer show is that everyone who sees the stove
will stop and reminisce. They will remember the good times of their youth, some
will remember the tough times but all will remember that there is nothing like a
loaf of fresh baked bread still hot from the oven. Nothing at all like the
electric "bread maker" that sits on counter tops today. The fact is
there is a real reason for the difference, not just fond memories. A wood
burning cookstove evenly heats the oven from 5 sides. Foods cook better when
they cook more even. The function of a wood burning cookstove is amazing. Heat
your house, cook your food and heat hot water as well. No other stove can do all
that.
When I first looked at the Todd wood burning cookstove
I was impressed. After spending years selling stoves that were $4,000.00 to
$5,000.00 I couldn't believe you could have a quality stove for less than that.
A wood cookstove that retails for $1495.00....unlikely. I looked it over, I tore
it apart in my mind and I tried to figure out what I was missing. There has to
be a catch. My wife (who is also my business partner) usually leaves product
decisions up to me. This time there was no hesitation. Balk if I want to but we
are going to sell the Todd woodburning cookstove. There is a nitch for a good
quality stove at a reasonable price. As usual...she was right! As I have brought
the stove out to dealer's showrooms and as they have presented it to their
customers everyone has agreed, this is a great product at a great price. I am
proud of my association with Buffalo Import and proud to have the Todd cookstove
in the lineup of products I offer my dealers.
This is good stuff!
Our challenge is to get the word out to consumers that
they have a choice. You don't have to spend $5,000.00 for a wood cookstove and
you don't have to settle on one of the many wood burning stoves that heat but
won't cook. Exposure is the key element for success. Consumers have to know that
a product exists before they can add that product on their "want"
list. Quality dealers, first class displays and constant efforts looking for
places and methods to get the word out that the Todd wood burning cookstove is a
winner.
